What about you? What are you most known for by your friends and family?
What do the following parts of your life say about you:
Dress?
Speech?
Friends?
Music?
When we choose to follow Christ, he gives us a completely new identity that changes everything.
Read Ephesians 2: 1-3
It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat.
Before coming to Christ, what identified you?
In other words, how did your friends and family see you?
Read vs. 4-6:
Immense in mercy and with an incredible love, [God] embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.
Our new identity is in Christ. Before everything else, we are to be known as believers. That means everything! Sports, grades, popularity, friendships, money, and our stuff!
It only matters in Christ.
How do you want to live so that Christ is your main identity?
What needs to change to help you get there?
